A ketogenic amino acid solution can be an amino acid that may be degraded straight into acetyl-CoA, which is the precursor of ketone physiques. This is as opposed to the glucogenic proteins, which are changed into glucose. Ketogenic proteins cannot be changed into glucose as both carbon atoms in the ketone body are finally degraded to skin tightening and in the citric acidity cycle.
In humans, two proteins are entirely ketogenic:
(appreciated as all the “L” proteins)
Leucine
Lysine
In humans, five proteins are both ketogenic and glucogenic:
(kept in mind by the useful mnemonic “PITTT” or “FITTT”, and includes all the aromatic proteins)
Phenylalanine (abbreviated Phe or F, as opposed to Proline which is Expert or P, predicated on their particular pronunciations)
Isoleucine
Threonine (some creators don’t acknowledge it as a ketogenic amino acid solution)
Tryptophan
Tyrosine
In humans, the rest of the thirteen proteins are only glucogenic (i.e. aren’t ketogenic).
